Isn’t prostate cancer an old man’s disease?

No, prostate cancer certainly is not an old man’s disease. Having been diagnosed at the age of 51 and working with and hearing from many patients who are diagnosed between the age of 40 to 65, it certainly is not. And I think they would take umbrage whenever they hear the people say that this is an old man’s disease. Sixty-five percent of the cases diagnosed are in men 65 years and older, but if you look at the numbers of approximately 244,000 new cases diagnosed each year, that is about 86,000 men between the ages roughly of 40 and 65. So, no, prostate cancer is not just an old man’s disease.
